A report by Anastasia Gritsay
Colors of Goa magazine and Goan Times newspaper came back from Minsk, the capital of Belarus, where the XIX World Congress of Russian Media (WARP) took place (12-15th of July).
As you know, we publish our newspaper in Russian language as well. So there is only one regular Russian newspaper in India, which is Goan Times. And India became one
of 54 countries which participated in the World Congress of Russian Press, focusing on modern civilization priorities as part of partnership for the future.
The plenary session of the XIX World Congress of Russian Press took place in Minsk on the 12 th of July, it was opened by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
Two panel sessions were discussed: “Challenges and Opportunities: Sovereignty, Integration, and Globalization” and “Mass media in digital revolution conditions”.
By the way, we saw many interesting beautiful places in Belarus during the program of this Congress. The most pleasant expression – Minsk and the rest of the country are so clean and green (we recommend you to visit Belarus at least once in your lifetime).
Big parks, huge buildings, museums and palaces, the government do so much for the development of Sports as well… We were impressed.
Did you know, for example, that the geographic centre of Europe is located in one small Belarusian town called Polotsk? Or the best organ hall – is at St. Sophia Cathedral (in the same town). We came to know, visited these places. We also went for the opening
ceremony of one popular cultural festival in Vitebsk “Slaviansky Bazar” and enjoyed the hospitality of historical museum-park Sula. So we were not just and only working, but
had time to discover a new place and new information as well.
The XIX World Congress of Russian Press was organized by the World Association of Russian Press (WARP), the Belarusian Information Ministry and the World Russian Press Foundation. The World Association of Russian Press (WARP) was established on 24 June,1999. It is an open international non-governmental association of printed and digital mass media, news agencies, publishing houses, television channels and radio
programs. Previous congress took place in Paris (UNESCO), now – beautiful Minsk and the next one is going to happen in New York.
According to the WARP Council, newspapers, magazines, publishing houses, radio and television broadcasts in Russian language are available in over 70 countries across the globe. A significant number of them are represented in WARP or cooperate with the association.
Anastasia Gritsay thanks WARP for appreciating our work.
