Following the latest guidelines by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, New Delhi, certain roads and paths in the state of Goa have been declared as accident prone. The decision has been taken after analysing some reports based in accidents and their frequency of various roads in the state.
According to this, there are 37 black spots that have been identified and 68 zones have been declared as accident prone, a large number of these lie in the areas of Ponda and Porvorim. The list of the black spots and the accident prone areas has been forwarded to the PWD to carry out actions to facilitate the required development of these areas.
As part of the improvement drill, special traffic rules have been imposed to these places, applicable for two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening
